How can we Be of Help?

From intimate private gardens to  urban plazas, to multistory streetscapes and roof gardens, every project starts with a conversation. Whether you’re looking for full-scope design or just an expert consultation to explore ideas, we’re here to help. Reach out anytime to discuss what fits your vision and budget.

Every project begins with consultation.

We start by sitting down together to talk about what’s most important to you and the challenges you face, then prepare a plan of action to achieve your goals.

After sitting down for an in-depth interview about your goals, conducting a thorough site inventory, and researching the context of the project, we prepare a Site Analysis Diagram illustrating the site’s constraints and opportunities in relation to your design-, budgetary-, and lifestyle goals.

This is followed by the Concept Design – the part that every client loves. In this phase, using simple drawings, inspiration imagery, and perhaps a few material samples, we develop the strongest, most cohesive ideas into illustrations that we share to help you see the exciting possibilities.

After we discuss your favorite of the ideas developed in the Concept phase, we refine them into scaled drawings illustrating the holistic design vision for your project – The Schematic Design.

With this new vision for the landscape, we develop a clear, constructable set of detailed plans for permitting, estimating, and construction.

This begins with Design Development Phase.  Now that we have the design direction resolved, we  research and resolve the majority of the key decisions about size, shapes, materials, and finishes of the landscape features and develop a plant palette best suited to your design and project context, and develop a plan for site grading and drainage.

Once we determine that the design and budget are practical and aligned, we move into the detailed Construction Documents.

For those inexperienced in the process, the logistics of a significant construction project can be intimidating, frustrating, overwhelming.

I will help you navigate through the complicated process of finding skilled contractors, reviewing and comparing estimates, communicating the design intent, and resolving unexpected challenges.

As the landscape matures, the plants grow and your needs change, the garden should evolve with you, and I welcome the opportunity to reconnect with the places we have developed together.

"This is How We Do It"

Our Principles

A Small Part of Something Bigger

Every project, no matter its scale, has the potential to bring positive change that extends beyond beyond the property line. From our first conversation, we’ll explore how your space can be a small part of something bigger —whether that’s supporting local biodiversity, managing stormwater, or choosing reclaimed and sustainable materials.

Honesty, Integrity, and Mutual Respect

For a project to be successful, it is imperative to have a strong relationship built on trust. We will always be straightforward, honest, and transparent in our work with our clients and other collaborators.

Humor, Humility, & Joy,

Our work can be challenging, complicated, and at times quite stressful, and we take our responsibility for the success of the project very seriously. But we also love what we do and that passion is expressed and reinvigorated by an attitude of exuberance in our work and an excitement for facing these challenges head-on, side-by-side in partnership.
